land girls

[outfit+post.bmp][land+girl.bmp]
floral romper and leather belt, beyond retro. elbow patch cardigan, topshop.

The end of last week saw me channeling the land girls of World War Two. My own adapted version of course, for as much as I'd love to be the owner of some brown dungarees or work trousers, a wooly cardigan with elbow patches had to suffice. I tried my hand at pinning the front sections of my hair back with kirby grips, popped on some red lippie and contemplated changing my name to Nettie, or Dot.

The BBC has scheduled a happy coincidence for my nostalgia in the form of a new 5 part drama unsurprisingly called "Land Girls". The reviews seem to approve, so with luck the mini-series will be able to provide my sartorial tastebuds with more in the way of overalls, welly, and headscarf combos.

(Brits, hit the record button for BBC1 from 5.15 tonight!)

I think I may have to give that a watch!

By the way - love the Friendly Fire lyrics at the bottom of your board, my hawk eyes spotted them!

The strong lip is fabulous. I'm mulling over wearing one for the shows. LLGxx

I'm glad you got the red lippy out...There's a strong trend associated with red lipstick and 'hard times' this economy really has hit people hard... p.s. I can't wait to get my hands on the BBC series!

i told you! i told you you looked like chloe! & when anonymous commenters say they feel the same - you know it's true!

& also, not gonna lie, you wearing this little get up in your last video inspired me to dress up quite the same the next day; f&f romper, borrowed deak's wooly grey cardi & added a few extra notches in a thrifted tan belt i never wore cos it was too big & threw on socks + oxfords.

we ended up taking a few snaps, though it might be too much of a copycat thing to post them now, eh?

it just has this lovely englishy autumn feel to it; quite like you were describing about your (fab) new coat.

ALSO just noticed the nylon kneehighs - nice touch!

love as always, xxx

I ADORE this.

I am thinking of putting some elbow patches on an old cardigan of mine that has holes in the elbows now from too much library time.

I was going to watch this but then completely forgot - I'll have to tune in next week. I love this look as I'm a secret countryside-whore, and dream of gallavanting around in wellies and floral frocks. Deee-lish.
